Prior to launching Corrie D Marketing on 15th October 2011. Initially when I launched it was as a Social Media Marketing Agency and Social Media Trainer specialising in Online ads on Facebook & Google.

Sharing further knowledge and expertise gained from working for The METRO, The Sun, Thomson Directories and Thomweb their online ads directory where we had email and internet - Way back in 2000.

Cast your mind WAY back to the millennium 2000. Most of us who are old enough remember where we were that new years eve.

I left The Sun after being head hunted by an ex employer from The Herald who had been my boss at the local papers in Ayrshire he was heading up the launch of The METRO & Daily Mail. But this meant going back to working without emails and no internet! And it felt like going back in time to the dark ages...

So understandably, it was during my time at Thomson Directories, that I got the bug for Online & Digital.

This was during the dot.com BOOM! And having access to emails was all NEW! The search engine I used back in the day was called "Ask Jeeves!" and clients having a brochure website let alone an ecommerce store where their shop could be open 24/7 and sell online was a gamechanger.

The "information super highway" is how we used to describe the t'internet to those who were not in the know.

But the opportunities to create online ads was mindblowing! Compare this to receiving ad copy over email V the FAX machine for print ads was another gamechanging memorable moment.

If you can imagine how difficult it and lengthy process it was, to be waiting on post for ad copy? Or having to drive about to collect cheques from advertisers on cheque pick up run. Way back in the day at . Thomson Directories our boss used to give us her Saab Convertible to drive to Edinburgh to collect cheques.

I was a 25 year old from a council estate! It felt Iike I was living the dream!

Saab convertible, roof down. A rare event in Scotland - the Sun was out, the wind was blowing our hair, and we were off to Edinburgh on a girls day out, all in the name of a days work! To collect a cheque from an ex band members from one of Scotland's most iconic and famous bands from the 70s - The Bay City Rollers. Singing Shang A Lang as we entered the gates to the private residence- it was quite surreal for me, exciting, and great fun too.

But at the same time extremely time consuming!

When you work in sales and you only get paid your commission when your clients cleared funds have been received for their ads. So you can imagine how much easier this new email technology meant we could send an email with a direct debit instruction attached.

I loved this part of Thomson Directories for their online version Thomweb - and where I got the bug for online ads!

Then another seismic shift happened for businesses..

Smartphones!

With the opportunity for business owners to embrace the rise of mobiles (smartphones) which meant almost everyone had a hand held computing device, websites had to adapt and change to be fully responsive on websites to fit mobile devices.

In May 2018 GDPR was launched by ICO for EU members I'd studied for that day for 2 years in the run up to it's launch and worked with award winning lawyer Suzanne Dibble while at the same time I was focussed on learning about AI Chat Bots and Training them for our clients websites. Talk about being ahead of my time.

I don't think there were many UK biz's in 2017 training AI chatbots! Let alone Scottish.

I also introduced chat agents for Facebook - I invested heavily in all of this NEW tech but the chat agents, and scraper tools couldn't be used when GDPR was born so this was a huge financial loss.

Some you WIN and some you LOSE!

But I was offering our clients Video and Chat bots and FB chat agent services in 2017 I was way ahead of the curvr. Too far ahead I'd been working closely with our American friends in colloboration and partners to bring to the UK and Scotland pioneering AI chabots in our unique two step lead gen system video and virtual chat agents, basically AI chat bots that I personally trained.
